The Inspiration
In Serapias, nature takes center stage and life is experienced in a luxurious authentic way. Thus, our name was inspired by the endemic flora found on the mountainous hillsides of the island of Santorini.
Serapias Bergonii is a species of orchids that grows in rocky terrain near Exo Gonia, undoubtedly the most frequently encountered Serapias in the eastern Mediterranean, a plant that has only been known as a distinct species/sub-species for just over a century.
Its name is rooted in the Serapis myth, a Graeco-Egyptian deity. Serapis was a syncretistic deity derived from the worship of the Egyptian Osiris and Apis and also gained attributes from other deities, such as chthonic powers linked to the Greek Hades and Demeter, and benevolence linked to Dionysus.
